The JTA Experience

Because good memories should be well documented

JTA Manual

When I was a freshman in college, I know I wanted to join JTA but I was so clueless about it because there were no brochures or manuals readily available at the School of Management Department for curious students to read on, so, I just relied on stories from friends who joined the program to know what it is all about . I guess, through having this page, freshman and sophomore SOM majors can already plan ahead like knowing what cumulative QPI to attain, how much money to save, etc. I guess, if this kind of information about JTA was available to me before, then I could have worked harder on getting high grades for a better JTA rank. Haha!

This is the 2008 JTA Manual given to aspiring applicants last February which provides details such as the JTA partner schools of Ateneo de Manila’s School of Management abroad, the number of slots available in a particular school, the estimated cost of expenses to be incurred, etc.

***

Who are qualified to join JTA?

  • Junior School of Management majors with a cumulative Quality Point Index (QPI) of 2.80. Grades from 1st Year First Semester to 2nd Year Second Semester are included in the computation of the cumulative QPI.

What is the academic calendar of the two JTA semesters?

  •  JTA 1st Semester (April-July): 12-15 units depending on the course curriculum. For CTM majors, the subjects included are CS175, Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, and Philosophy.
  • JTA 2nd Semester (January-April): 12-15 units depending on the course curriculum. For CTM majors, the subjects included are Communication 14, Marketing, Philosophy, Statistics, and Theology.

I do not think that my family can pay for the expenses to be incurred in JTA. Are scholarships available?

  • Yes, scholarships are available. However, to be part of the 20 or so scholars that are selected by the Dean, one must establish financial need. Having remarkable grades and an impressive curriculum vitae does not assure one of being granted a full scholarship since the Dean prioritizes deserving students who cannot financially support the expenses of JTA.

Can scholars have their JTA in Europe?

  • No. Scholars can only select low-cost destinations in Asia.
